Netherlands Antilles vaccinations: which ones do you need?

Are you going on holiday to the Netherlands Antilles? Please take the proper precautions. Certain vaccinations are recommended for the Netherlands Antilles, although in most cases they are not mandatory. Which vaccinations you require, depends on the places you plan to visit and on your further journey.

Netherlands Antilles is the name for a wonderful group of islands in the Caribbean. Since 2010, the Netherlands Antilles no longer exist as a governmental unit, but the name is still being used to refer to the group of Caribbean islands that belong to Kingdom of the Netherlands. These are: Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba and Aruba. The islands have a tropical climate with year-round temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. If your visit to the Antilles is part of a round trip, you should take into account additional health risks. For example, if you travel to nearby Venezuela – or to any other South American country – you may require additional vaccinations. Also, protect yourself well against the fierce sun and avoid mosquito bites (dengue fever). Malaria does not occur in the Netherlands Antilles.

Our KLM Health Services nurses are happy to tell you which vaccinations you require for the Netherlands Antilles and provide advice on how to healthily travel to the Dutch islands in the Caribbean. Click here to make an appointment (in Dutch) with a nurse.
