Are you travelling to Burkina Faso soon? On this page you can read more about places of interest, the climate and possible health risks. It is for example important to know that vaccinations are recommended for Burkina Faso. In most cases these are not mandatory, unless you enter the country from a country where yellow fever is prevalent. What other vaccinations you require is dependant on the duration of your stay in ‘the land of honest people’.

Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in western Africa that is surrounded by six countries, including Ivory Coast, Ghana, Niger and Mali. Southern Burkina Faso has a savannah climate whereas the north has a semi-arid climate. The north is dominated by desert landscape. Freely translated, Burkina Faso means ‘the land of honest people’ – a name that is certainly reflected in the friendliness and hospitality of its inhabitants. Burkina Faso has plenty to offer: in the south are nature parks where you can spot wildlife, such as lions, monkeys, gazelles and buffalos. Culture lovers can visit one of the many beautiful clay mosques or view traditional African art in such as Ouagadougou – the capital – and Bobo Dioulasso.
