The Canary Islands are an autonomous community of Spain located on the Atlantic Ocean west of Morocco. The main – and most well-known – islands in the archipelago are Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and La Palma. The islands have a subtropical climate with year-round pleasant summer temperatures and few differences: the eastern islands are somewhat drier, and the western slightly more humid. Regardless of your holiday itinerary for the Canary Islands, please consider the health risks. Vaccinations are not necessary but beware of the strong sun and of the desert wind that can be tricky sometimes.
