New Caledonia is a special French collectivity located in the Pacific Ocean, east of Australia, north of New Zealand and west of Fiji. New Caledonia has a tropical climate that is strongly influenced by the sea. It rains a lot during the wet season, between December and April, that also often deals with tropical storms. Therefore, the colder season, between May and November, is the best time to travel to New Caledonia. The islands offer heavenly white beaches and seas that are ideal for sailing, snorkelling and diving. Scuba divers can marvel at the second largest coral reef in the world. Besides this, the islands offer waterfalls, lagoons and virgin forest, and the capital of Nouméa, which is worth a visit. Nouméa is also known as the Paris of the Pacific.
