The island of Sint Maarten, which lies 240 kilometres east of Puerto Rico, is part of the Lesser Antilles and is divided between France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The French part is known as Saint Martin. Since 2010, the southern Dutch part is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Previously, the island was part of the Netherlands Antilles.
