Duration
The training is customised to meet your needs and lasts for one day. The day is divided into two sessions, addressing various aspects of absenteeism and employability. It includes a good mix of theory and practical activities, helping participants connect with their own real-life experiences.
(This training is part of our modular Work & Health programme. Within this programme, we turn your health management goals into clear actions using our six-phase model. This way, we keep employees actively engaged through a continuous cycle of research, analysis, information, and advice.)

Session 1 – Insights
During the first session, you’ll cover the following:
- Managing absenteeism within legal boundaries. You’ll gain insight into your role in terms of applicable laws and regulations, as well as the costs of absenteeism.
- You’ll learn to recognise early signs (such as irritability, despondency, lack of focus) and how to prevent relapse (by adjusting tasks or targeted intervention).
- You’ll learn how to respond to (early signs of) absenteeism in an effective and timely manner and you’ll learn how to prevent relapse and drop-out where possible.
- You’ll learn about practical settings and cooperation with the company doctor. Based on the specific circumstances within your company, we’ll assess how you can better manage absenteeism. Company doctors will also be present to explain their role and answer questions.

Session 2 – tools for dialogue
During the second session, you’ll apply knowledge gained during the first session. You’ll work with a training actor practicing scenarios from your specific setting, applying unique occupational and acting strategies, directly providing effective feedback.
During the second session you’ll learn the following:
- Conducting interviews with staff in different phases of absenteeism.
- Posing different types of effective questions.
- What questions you should and shouldn’t ask.
- Dealing with resistance and listening in active manner.
- Your specific strengths and challenges during interviews.
- Insight into the effect your actions have on absenteeism.
