Aeromedical examination
Are you a professional or hobbyist pilot? If you wish to fly an aircraft independently, you must undergo an aeromedical examination. This service is available at KLM Health Services. Did you know that we conduct over 5,000 certified aeromedical examinations every year?
Components of an aeromedical examination
The examination includes a thorough analysis of your medical history. The specifics of the examination depend on the class of medical certificate, type of rating and your age.
The purpose of a flight medical examination is to determine whether your health condition poses a risk to safety in air traffic. This is a safety check that complies with medical requirements laid down by law at European level. Aeromedical examinations carried out by KLM Health Services always comply with the medical requirements applicable to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
When do I need it?
- Class 1 pilots must undergo an examination annually.
- For class 2 and 3 pilots the required frequency of examination depends on your age.
