Hearing test (audiogram)
Are your employees exposed to a noise level of 80dB(A) or higher on a daily basis, then it is important to have a hearing test, also known as an audiogram. Having regular hearing tests can help establish at an early stage whether you are experiencing hearing loss.
What does a hearing test involve?
A hearing test, also known as an audiogram, measures hearing in all frequency ranges to determine whether hearing loss has occurred.
When is the test needed?
- If your employees are daily exposed to sounds that are 80 dB(A) or louder, it is important to have a hearing test. Regular checks can help spot any hearing loss early on.
When is noise harmful?
We perceive sounds through our ears because of changes in air pressure. Noise in excess of 80 dB(A) is harmful. If you can talk to someone without raising your voice, then the noise is probably below 80 dB(A).
Noise is harmful if:
- You have to raise your voice to be understood by someone who is nearby (within a normal conversational distance)
- Your ears ring or buzz after a day of work
- You have trouble following a conversation or a TV programme for several hours after work
In the above cases, try to find ways to protect your hearing, for example by wearing earplugs. Be sure to schedule yourself for a hearing test. In these cases, it's important to have a hearing test done.
Where does the test take place?
The hearing test takes place at our locations in Den Haag or Schiphol-Oost.
