In the Netherlands, most vaccinations are offered free of charge in the National Immunisation Programme. This programme offers free vaccinations for children and adults against various diseases, such as human papillomavirus (HPV), polio and hepatitis B. The aim of this programme is to prevent the spread of certain diseases as much as possible.
There are also vaccinations that are not included in the National Immunisation Programme as standard, but which you can choose yourself. For example, think of vaccination against shingles or pneumococcal disease. These vaccinations can be done on your own initiative and are therefore also called 'tailor-made vaccinations'.
